Simply by mentioning the name of Charles Dickens, comes to your mind all the value he gave to English literature. His name summarizes all the stories and tales that made him the most famous writer of his age, known and mentioned even now days for his genuine contribution.
Dickens had a rough childhood although this didn’t influence his creativity for the future. As a fragile child, he survived the mean streets of London. His education progressed by his own will and desire, a complete self-education. Although Dickens was sent to work in factories and such places, he never lost his hope that one day he would succeed something. Being such a clever young man, helped him get through the difficulties he was actually put on by being able to pass all of them.
Dickens travelled a lot through various countries and this helped him with his creations. He would go on with the writing of about a dozen of novels and countless short stories or articles before his death. All the titles are famous but some of the most attractive ones are: “A Tale Of Two Cities”, “David Copperfield”, “Oliver Twist”, “A Christmas Carol”, “Great Expectations” etc. By mentioning the fact that this writer’s fascinating characters have amazed generations of people, can be concluded that Dickens’s attribution has influenced on the imagination and originality of its readers.
This man not only gave a significant addition to the English literature but the worldwide one in general, as well. The multi-talented Dickens, beyond just being a novelist, introduced himself as a brilliant essayist, editor and lecturer too. He produced hundreds of essays, edited and rewrote many others. Besides the talks and readings that he gave about certain topics, Dickens wrote even several plays and letters.
A truly remarkable talent, considered to be one of the greatest man that has ever lived. A unique personality who gave a lot through his exceptional ‘pieces of art’, his written works. An absolute inspiration to many writers and even myself…
