In Albania exist a similar day as the Remembrance day.
It is on the 5th of May and it is known as the Martyr's Day.
It is not a holiday or something like that. Actually people used to remember it every year.
Even now people do remember it.
The families and relatives of the martyrs take flowers to the graves of their loved people. They even try to remember their heroisms.
The government too gives their support and help if needed. They also visit people who actually have gave their contribute for the country's freedom or even their families.
It is also held a two minute silence in honor of those who gave their life for their country.

Fossils from the 'Missing Years' in Africa

Researchers say they have identified animal fossils from 27 000 000 years ago in what is now Ethiopia. The remains are from the middle of a time called the "missing years" or the "dark period ." This is because scientists have so little information about the mammals that lived then. The period begun 32 million years ago. Africa and Arabia were a single continent, a huge island known as Afro - Arabia. The period ended 24 000 000 years ago, after a land bridge formed with Eurasia.

John Kappelman is an anthropologist at the university of Texas in Austin and leader of the american and ethiopian search team. Mr Kappelman says 8 000 000 years is a long time to lack information about a continent. He says scientists have only been able to guess what happened to african mammals during that period. The remains found in the Chilga area of Ethiopia offer important evidence.

The remains include teeth, skull pieces and other bones. The scientists found them on a farming area about 2000 meters above sea level, on the highlands of Ethiopia. Satellite pictures helped the researchers decide where to dig. The fossils come from about 70 different digs. The magazine Nature published the findings. The scientists say the fossils come from before large numbers of animals begun to arrive in Africa from Europe and Asia. The fossils also show that some animals existed millions of years before scientists had thought.

The researchers found several kinds of ancient proboscideans. These are animals with trunks. Modern elephants are proboscideans. Scientests have long thought elephants began in Africa. They say this discovery proves that theory. The ancestors weighed about 1000 kilograms, a lot smaller than African elephants today.

John Kappelman says the elephant ancestors were one of the few african mammals that survived the invasion of mammals from Eurasia. He says elephants got their start on Africa during the eight - million - year period, and then spread around the world. The researchers also found the remains of an ancient animal with two horns on its head, called the arsinoithere. The scientists were excited, because this is the youngest set of such remains yet discovered. The animal is much larger than its ancestors. earlier forms were about the size of pigs. Bit the arsinoithere found at Chilga was about twa meters tall and weighed more than two tons.

They were similar to the modern rhinoceros. The two are not related. in fact, scientists thought arsinoitheres had disappeared from the afro - arabian continent once rhinos arrived from Eurasai. one researcher says it now appears they did not compete for survival. Scientists say they expect more discoveries to come about the mammals that lived during the so - called missing years.

Do you believe in haunted houses? No? Well you better believe! Haunted houses do exist and that's a fact!
A haunted house is defined as a house that is believed to be a center for supernatural occurrences. A haunted house may contain ghosts, spirits, witches or even demons. Supernatural activity inside homes is said to be mainly associated with violent or tragic events in the building's past such as murder, accidental death, or suicide. However most of these haunted houses are located in the Northern America.
Now let me tell you a few stories.
The first story is about the Bloody Mary's Cabin
Long ago, a young girl named Mary committed suicide when the moon was full. Today, during a full moon, if one travels to the cabin, looks in the mirror and says “Bloody Marythree times, Mary will return and try to kill you. People actually believe this and say that they have seen this girl. But how true is that?
Another story is about the Hell House
This facility was once home to a college for girls. The nuns, however, began praying to the Satan and one by one, the girls were murdered. Inside the building, chilling screams are heard. At the top of the large staircase, there is an enormous cold spot. Some people say that these screams are true.
And the last but not the least is the Eliza's Spirit
During the 18th century, a witch named Eliza lived in a home. Since her death in1831, every family that has resided in the house was haunted by her spirit. In 1945, the house burned. Eliza’s spirit, however, continued to wreak havoc, often screeching during the night. Some brave souls have stayed at the site and have all met Eliza. Have they actually REALLY met her?
These stories were told by people who say that have seen these things. How true are these stories? Hmmm... don't really know! One thing's sure though! They give me goosebumps!!!!

Flea Markets

  • What's a flea market? A flea market is a type of bazaar where inexpensive or secondhand goods are sold. It may be indoors, such as in a house or it may be outdoors, such as in a field or under some kind of tent. The flea market selling may range from few unwanted household items to a large variety of used merchandise.
  • When did these flea markets become popular? From the late 17th century, an open-air market in the town of Saint-Owen began as temporary stalls and benches among the fields and market gardens where rag pickers exchanged their findings for a small sum. The flea markets now were part of the life.
  • Flea Markets in Albania In Albania also exist flea markets. The capital city of Albania its self has lots of flea markets with different stuff such as: food, accessories, clothes, furniture, electrical goods etc. One of the best and most well-known flea markets it is located in Kruja, a city near Tirana. Kruja's flea market is very popular and it is a great tourist attraction. You may arrive there by car quite fast. The flea market is opened from Monday to Sunday so you can visit it anytime you want. Albanians and even foreigners come to visit this market. In this market you can find antique stuff that belong to the Albanian tradition. You may also find small ceramics of different things or even hand made work. While visiting the flea market it would also be nice if you had a look at the museum near by. If you are thinking of coming in Albania it would be great if you visited Kruja's flea market. You may find really nice stuff and cheap ones too.
